ABOUT Me

Rebecca was born and raised in the Silicon Valley. Rebecca received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon in Music Education in 2016. During her student teaching, she saw how students with special needs were left in classrooms with ill-equipped teachers. She wanted to double major in Special Needs Education and Music Education, but then she learned about music therapy and decided that was the way to go. Rebecca ended up continuing her music education program and continued to teach TK-5th grade music in Seattle, Los Angeles, and East Palo Alto.

In 2018, Rebecca began her music therapy journey at the University of the Pacific, San Francisco campus. During her program, she worked with various populations including: adolescents with special needs, adults living in group homes, veterans, and residents in hospice care. While simultaneously working as an elementary school music teacher, she also utilized some techniques with her students.

In 2020, during the pandemic, Rebecca began her internship with Musicworx. During her internship, she worked with a multitude of populations including: medically fragile children, patients and staff in hospitals, veterans, memory care patients, people with Parkinson’s, pulmonary patients, people living in shelters, and children with special needs.

Since becoming a board certified music therapist, Rebecca has primarily worked with people with special needs (ages 4 to 100) and memory care facilities.

Rebecca prides herself in her person-first approach to music therapy, thus coming up with the name “Music for Me”. Allowing her clients to advocate for themselves by saying “I go to music for me”.

In her free time, Rebecca loves going to the beach with her dog. Fort Funston is their favorite place to visit. She also loves cooking foods from different cultures with her spouse. Her favorite food is noodles (ramen, pasta, hand-cut, you name it).
